Peter Weston

Principal


Peter holds a Master’s of Arts in Community Planning from the University of British Columbia. He began his career in planning with North York in 1965 as a Planner. He then held various positions at the Province of Ontario working in the planning departments of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Ministry of Treasury and Economics, including his role as Manager of the Ontario Housing Action Program with the Ministry of Housing. In 1974, Peter began his career in consulting as partner in D.M. Consulting Limited.

In 1981, Peter started Weston Consulting (then Weston and Associates) where he was president from its inception through to 2007. During his tenure as the president, Peter was responsible for client representation before approval agencies, municipalities, administrative tribunals and the courts. He has extensive experience as an expert witness, appearing before the Ontario Municipal Board, the Land Compensation Board, the Parkway Belt West Hearing Board, the Supreme Court of Ontario on matters of Judicial Review, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Legislative Committee of Cabinet.

Peter continues his role with Weston Consulting in an advisory capacity, translating his years of experience in the field of planning and development to current planning issues. Peter is a Registered Professional Planner with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and a Full Member with the Canadian Institute of Planners where he also served as President of the Institute from 1982 to 1983.
