Vivian Gomes

B.Arch., M.Arch., MES.Pl.

Senior Urban Designer

Vivian is Weston’s Senior Designer with expertise in strategic master planning, sustainable urban design and public engagement. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism from Brazil, the latter focusing on urban design and outdoor thermal comfort, and a master’s in planning from the University of Waterloo, where she studied child-friendly placemaking in high-density communities. Vivian is passionate about combining research and practice to undertake integrated and collaborative human-centred design and planning processes, which makes her a strategic leader, facilitator and problem-solver.

Her ability to listen to the projects’ needs, co-create with stakeholders and communicate innovative ideas has led to optimal development solutions to best address our client’s needs, facilitate the review process, and positively engage with community groups impacted by the development. At Weston, Vivian has contributed to implementing more sustainable and efficient design strategies for several site and master plans, provided expert design reviews, developed public engagement strategies, and coordinated successful urban design and sustainability reports.

With over 15 years of experience, Vivian has worked on several project scales both in the private and public sectors, including residential, commercial and institutional developments, as an architect, urban designer, sustainability consultant and project manager and facilitator. In her spare time, Vivian loves spending time in nature as much as exploring urban activities. She enjoys meditating and does that when she runs, dances, and practices free diving.
